To counter his fear that Town council will not support his motion to investigate Oakville Hydros do- nations to the Ontario Liberal Party, Knoll has launched an online petition. The Ward 5 Town and Regional Coun- cillor plans to present the petition along with his motion at the upcoming coun- cil meeting on Monday, Nov. 15. My gut instinct is that council is not going to be overly enthusiastic about passing this resolution, or variation thereof, unless Ive got some real evidence that says this isnt just me, this is the public speaking out, he said. Knolls petition can be found at www.ipetitions.com/petition/oakvillehydro. It calls for an inquiry into Oakville Hydros dona- tions of $17,500 to the Liberals. The donations were made in 2008 and 2009, by way of purchasing a table at each of the years annual dinner events hosted by the political party. The Town of Oakville owns Oakville Hydro. 60 Pages $1.00 (plus tax)A member of Metroland Media Group Ltd. He received a Governor Generals commendation for his work. The former Peterborough and St. Marys resident witnessed atrocities, was shot at regularly and carried the stress of his job on his shoulders. He says it nearly cost him his life. Two years after leaving the Canadian Forces at the age of 43, Newcombe suf- fered three heart attacks. He believes post-traumatic stress disorder caused his marriage to fail, his health to decline and his life to fall apart piece by piece. Newcombe now 49 and living in London is busy rebuilding his shat- tered life and strengthening his relation- Sometimes the war begins after the shooting ends They served in the Second World War and Korea, in peacekeeping missions and in Afghanistan. They offered up the ulti- mate sacrifice, putting their lives on the line for a better world. But after hanging up their combat boots, have these men and women received the care and support they need and deserve? Coming home can be difficult, for any generation.
