The Canadian women concluded a perfect show- ing at the CONCACAF Womens World Cup qualifi- er Monday in Mexico, blanking the host Mexican squad 1-0 in the tournaments championship game. Both teams had already clinched a spot in the World Cup by reaching the CONCACAF final, but Canadas victory meant the team finished the tour- nament with a 5-0-0 record. Canada scored 17 goals during the tournament and allowed none. Both Matheson and Lang are long-time mem- bers of the national womens team. Matheson, a White Oaks graduate, has 105 caps with the Canadian squad. Lang, a St. Thomas Aquinas alum- nus, has 92 caps to her credit. The 2011 FIFA Womens World Cup will take place from June 26 to July 17 in Germany. The Oakville intermediate AA Hornets posted two losses and a tie last weekend in Provincial Womens Hockey League play. Oakville fell 2-0 to the Etobicoke Dolphins Friday and 3-1 to the London Devilettes Saturday, with both games played at Joshuas Creek Arenas. The Hornets then earned a 1-1 draw against the Dolphins Sunday in Etobicoke. Evelyn McLean scored in the loss to London, while Lindsay Grigg had the Hornets goal in the tie against Etobicoke.
