The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada Rob Nicholson made the appointment announcement late last month. Henderson, a sole legal practitioner in Oakville, will replace Justice H. Vogelsang who was elected to become a supernumerary judge on Aug. 1, 2010. Henderson received a Bachelor of Arts in 1978 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1981 from Queens University. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1983. Henderson has been a sole practitioner since 2000. He was a legal agent for the Office of the Childrens Lawyer and a Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court. He was a Federal Assistant Crown from 1989 to 1992, a partner with Brian J. Hanna and Daniel Barichello from 1986 to 2000 and an associate with Brian Hanna from 1983 to 1986. His main areas of practice were family law, civil litigation and wills. Henderson has been a Bencher and a member of several committees for the Law Society of Upper Canada since 2006. He has also been a member of the Peel- Halton Collaborative Family Law Association since 2001, a member and past president of the Halton County Law Association since 1983, the Peel Law Association and a member of Family Mediation Canada since 2000.
