The implementation of a new Strategic Plan, Office Plan and zoning by-laws for our Oakville Downtown Central Business District. Improvements in the ambient air quality through the enactment of the rec- ommendations of the SWGTA Air Quality Task Force Action Plan (Dr. Balsaillie's report). Economic Development Increased employment opportunities. Remain fiscally responsible. Ward 3 Town Councillor Dave Gittings: Wants the 2011 Town Budget to seek efficiencies across all areas in an effort to keep any proposed property tax increase to an absolute minimum. Re-distribution of electoral wards to bet- ter balance representation particularly in north Oakville. Ward 5 Town Councillor Marc Grant: Short term/Ongoing: Make the Town process more open to the scrutiny of the people of Oakville. Long Term: Find places and opportuni- ties for youths to have more free play areas. Attract new hopefully high tech busi- nesses to Oakville. Wish List: Discover solu- tions to prevent people from speeding on residential streets. Ward 6 Town and Regional Councillor Tom Adams: I would like to ensure that our community continues to control urban growth by defending our new official plans from appeals by the development commu- nity and continuing to make development pay for the costs of new infrastructure. I would also like to see a focus on building and maintaining our transportation system to alleviate traffic congestion. We will be working on new transportation master plans and I would like to see the work on improving Ninth Line, Dundas Street, Trafalgar Road and Upper Middle Road con- tinue to move forward. I would also like to see the new Oakville hospital plan move for- ward to substantial completion by the end of the term. Finally, I would like to work towards a plan that would keep total prop- erty tax increases over the term close to the level of inflation.
