A lot of them work and have other things on the go, Peter Uremovich said of his team. It shows their level of commitment that they always showed up for prac- tice. They have the mindset that they drive themselves and they leave it all on the field. And the Oakville squad did it when it mattered most. Though it is third in the league standings, it won the Ontario Womens Soccer Leagues League Cup last month by beating Ottawa 2-0. In the Ontario Cup quarter-fi- nals, Oakville scored a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Dixie on a goal by Ashlee Savona. Savona, who played for Guyanas national team, came up big again in the semifinals with a three-goal performance in the a 4-1 win over Sudbury Dagys had the other goal. It was a tough game against Dixie and we could have lost in the quarters, Uremovich said. Sudbury had a couple of danger- ous players but they had some weaknesses in the back that we exposed. The win put them in the Ontario Cup final for the second year in a row, only this time Oakville emerged with the victory. Its the last time were going to play together as a team this year, Dagys said. So it was nice to fin- ish off the season on a positive note. Other members of Oakville Ontario Cup champion team are Jaclyn Alderdice, Celina Clark, Chantal Godin, Emma Mangliardi, Lindsay McDonald and Laura Zavaglia, coaches Alan McLaren and Steve Giftopoulos, trainers Debbie Hartman and Sue Prestedge and managers Rob Palmer and Sonya Palmer.
