The Mancor Speers Road facility went from emitting 3.7 tonnes of PM 10 and 363 kilograms of PM 2.5 in 2008 to emitting 378 kilograms of PM 10 and 289 kilograms of PM 2.5 in 2009. Dufferin Construction took over the mantel of Oakvilles second largest major emitter of PM 10 and PM 2.5 in 2009 increasing its emissions to 3.4 tonnes of PM 10 and 2.8 tonnes of PM 2.5. Petro Canadas South Oakville Terminal (Suncor) continued to produce the second greatest VOC emissions at 116 tonnes in 2009. Jempak GK Inc., also remained Oakvilles largest and only major emitter of sulfur dioxide listed on the NPRI as producing 2.6 tonnes in 2009. This amount is down from Jempaks 2008s 3.1 tonne sulfur dioxide emissions total. In addition to the Mancor Speers Road f facility, Royal Ready Mix Inc., also fell of Oakvilles major emitter list in 2009 reduc- ing its emissions from 955 kilograms of PM 10 in 2008 to 426 kilograms of PM 10 in 2009. A spokesperson from Royal Ready Mix Inc., had previously stated the companys emissions have decreased since 2008 due to a reduction in production and improve- ments to machinery. Other companies also suggested a reduc- tion in production due to the recession may be responsible for driving emission levels down, if only temporarily. Other major emitters on the 2009 list include Goodrich Aerospace Canada Ltd., which increased its emissions from 1.3 tonnes of PM 10, 435 kilograms of PM 2.5, and 20 tonnes of VOC in 2008 to 1.5 tonnes of PM 10, 476 kilograms of PM 2.5 and 34 tonnes of VOC in 2009. The Con-Cast Pipe Inc., reduced its emis- sions slightly from 359 kilograms of PM 2.5 in 2008 to 336 kg in 2009. The Mancor Industries Royal Windsor facility reduced its emissions from 818 kilo- grams of PM 10 and 671 kilograms of PM 2.5 in 2008 to 323 kilograms of PM 2.5 in 2009. Greif Oakvilles emissions stayed about the same with 25 tonnes of VOC emitted in both 2008 and 2009. The case was the same for Siegwerk Canada Inc., which emitted 1.8 tonnes of VOC in both 2008 and 2009. The General Electric Canada Oakville Lamp Plant reduced its emissions moving from producing 27 tonnes of VOC and 370 kilograms of PM 2.5 in 2008 to producing 15 tonnes of VOC in 2009. Procors emissions went up from 13 tonnes of VOC in 2008 to 14 tonnes in 2009 while Tate ASP Access Floors Inc., saw its VOC emissions drop from 19 tonnes in 2008 to 13 tonnes in 2009. Vicwest Corporation dropped its VOC emissions from 13 tonnes in 2008 to 11 tonnes in 2009. Recession may be responsible for lower emission levels Continued from page 8 ENTRANCE ASSESSMENTS for September 2011 Entrance Tuesday August 23 Mentor (JK - Grade 12) 9:30-12:00 TEAM (Grades 1-12) 10:00-1:00 Busing available throughout Oakville.
