Pauley ripped a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Oakville As major mosquito AAA team (pic- tured, left) to a dramatic 3-2 walk-off victory over the Mississauga Tigers in the champi- onship game of the recent Central Ontario Baseball Association tournament in Waterdown. Pauleys bases-clearing hit came directly after the Tigers issued a free pass to Tyler Sagl, putting the winning run on base. Paul Costin and Ethan Hammond scored in front of Sagl on the game-winning double. Eric Cerantola and Sagl handled the pitching duties for Oakville, limiting the Tigers to a pair of runs in the fifth inning. The COBA championship is the second in as many years for the As, who also won the league regular-season title with an 18-1-2 record. Oakville went 3-1 at the tournament, posting a 5-2 win over the Brampton Royals before splitting a pair of games with the arch-rival Tigers to set up the decisive con- test. A The As win qualified them for the AA provincial championships, where they have been silver medalists the past two seasons. Other members of the team are Matt Stone, Jordan Gamble, Evan McIntyre, Tanner Elson, Luke Raczywolski, Luke Seidel and Sandro Severin. Allen Elson, Drew Hammond, John Raczywolski, Richard Gamble and Ryan Seidel coach the As. Second straight COBA title for major mosquito A's A squeeze bunt by Harris Voyatzis in the top of the seventh inning pushed the Oakville As to an unlikely 13-12 victory over the Newmarket Hawks in the opening round of play Monday at the 55th Lions- CNE Peewee Baseball Tournament. The play capped a come- back which saw the As erase a 12-1 Newmarket lead after four innings. The Hawks built their lead with eight runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth. Oakville tied the score in the sixth on a two-out three-run homer by Cale Cutliffe. The single-loss elimina- tion tournament continues until Sept. 1. Peewee A's rally at Lions-CNE tourney
