Oakville polished off its perfect showing with a 5-1 win over the Flamborough Sabres in the final. Members of the squad are Tyler Adams, Isaac Boutin, Andrew Charko, Francesco Commisso, David Difilippo, Marcus Enriquez, Mikey Fabiano, Robbie Gauthier, Dylan Greenhalgh, Matthew Hipple, Kevin Kacvinsky, Owen McLean, Alexandre Moreau, Jack Morris, Matthew Tani, Alex Williams and Nicholas Zuliani. The Rangers are coached by Chris Charko and Mike Greenhalgh. James Gauthier and Greg Williams are the trainers, and Cindy Hipple is the manager. Two pennants Gladys Speers runner earns for New Central lone Oakville gold at Bandy at Bero meet New Central Public School runners earned two division pennants, one individual title and three other podium finishes at the Halton District School Board's Bero elementary junior cross-country meet, held recently in Burlington. New Central won the team championships in atom girls' and junior boys' competition. New Central's win in the atom girls' division came despite the fact that none of the school's runners finished in the top five. In the junior boys' division, Matthew Sparling, Sam Roy and Reese Saunders finished second, third and fourth, respectively, as New Central easily won the pennant. Anna Bremermann was the school's lone individual champion, beating out 30 other competitors to win the junior girls' race. Liam Richardson accounted for New Central's other podium finish, placing second in the bantam boys' run. New Central was second overall in bantam boys' competition and sixth in the tyke boys' division. Sheridan was the only other Oakville school to participate in the Bero meet, which is named in honour of retired teachers Liz and Al Bero. Both coached elementary runners for more than 30 years and continue to volunteer their time following their retirements. Gladys Speers Public School student Alex Dickson was the lone Oakville runner to earn gold at the Halton District School Board's Bandy elementary junior crosscountry meet recently in Burlington. Dickson was the fastest of 70 runners that competed in the junior boys' age division. His Gladys Speers teammates added several top-four finishes, however. Hunter Buday (tyke girls' B), Ryan Jeffery (atom boys) and Josh Compas (bantam boys) each placed third, while Quinn Ligon added a fourth-place effort (atom boys). Gladys Speers was second in atom boys' competition and third in junior boys. Oakwood, the other local school participating in the Bandy meet, was led by Dorion Ladley's fourthplace showing in the tyke boys' A race. Oakwood was fifth in both the tyke girls' and boys' A divisions. The Bandy meet is named after retired elementary athletic convener Virginia Bandy, who organized all the Halton District School Board's cross-country races for eight years and also helps out at various local road races.
