Parade is a fun-filled day for the whole family This Saturday, Santa Claus will wind his way through the streets of Oakville for the 63rd time. He and sweetheart Mrs. Claus, the Santa Claus Parade's Grand Marshall, will officially welcome the Christmas season along with thousands of people lining the Parade route in Downtown Oakville and Kerr Village. The Parade's theme, 'All I Want For Christmas,' promises to deliver one of the best parades ever seen in Town, with 50 uniquely decorated floats, costumed charcters and a full lineup of marching bands paving the way for Santa's eventual arrival. This year's Parade starts promptly at 9 a.m. -- rain or shine. It will begin at Lakeshore Rd. and Reynolds, go west on Lakeshore to Kerr St. and continue north on Kerr, ending at the corner of Kerr and Stewart St. Just before 9 a.m., look up in the sky for Santa's planes in Christmas tree formation, direct from the North Pole. Joining Mrs. Claus in the Cinderella carriage as Honourary Grand Marshall is 9 year old colouring contest winner Valeriy Fensenko. His drawing was selected out of over 100 entries that were submitted. After the Parade, visit the Parade website to vote for the People's Choice Award and Best Band The Oakville Santa Claus Parade will air on TV VCogeco23 on the evening of the parade: Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. Don't forget your letters to Santa! Canada Post will be collecting letters to Santa on the Parade route and promptly sending them off to the North Pole -- in plenty of time for Christmas. And will air repeats on: · Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. ·Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. Don't forget the toy drive, food drive and $2 for a "red nose" The following charities are the only l charities authorized to operate during the Parade. · The Kinsmen Club of Oakville will collect non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Jingle Bell Fund. Everyone is encouraged to bring one item. Cash donations will also be accepted. · The Oakville Fire Fighters will be on hand to accept new, unwrapped toys. Tween and teen items are especially needed. · Kids of all ages will want to purchase a red nose for $2 from the Fun Group of Family and Friends of Falgarwood. All monies generated will be donated to a Wellspring Halton. As this group is the only authorized seller of red noses, please don't buy your red nose from somebody else.
