Originally from Toronto and Oakville, he spent his retirement years by the Black River in Jackson's Point. Ev, husband of the late Audrey (nee Haywood), is survived by his sons Robert of Sutton, David (Claudia) and grandson Everest of Singapore, and daughter Mary (Rob) and granddaughters Charlotte, Audrey and Beatrix of Toronto. George Everest Munro (Ev), an Old Boy of Upper Canada College ('43), Cantab College, and U of T, was a liberal explorer of ideas, an engaging raconteur of stories and a reliable source of groan-worthy humour. Despite joining the RCAF in WWII, walking the entire 4.6 mile length of the TTC subway excavations daily as a foreman in the early 1950s, a short circuit at Ontario Hydro, three solid decades grounded in concrete issues at St. Lawrence Cement and many more decades untethered by eccentric McLuhanisms, Ev retained the impish and playful qualities of a 20th century Huckleberry Fin. He was quick with an observation of the moment that encouraged others to play along. As Roald Dahl so aptly said "A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest of men." He was and will be cherished by many. His Memorial Service will be held in St. George's Anglican Church, Sibbald Point, on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 pm. 'Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try." Dr. Seuss.
