Stack attack 7 · Wednesday, March 21, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com ERIC RIEHL / OAKVILLE BEAVER at ford plant: The smoke stack at Ford of Canada's former Oakville Assembly Plant's paint shop was demolished early Saturday morning. Heavy fog prevented those who woke up early from getting a glimpse of the tower as it fell shortly after 6 a.m. The stack, as well as multiple neighbouring buildings, were decommissioned five years ago. Despite the low visibility, onlookers could hear multiple explosions, followed by the sound of the metal smoke stack falling. The OPP executed a rolling blockade on the nearby QEW, to prevent drivers from being distracted by the demolition.
