Wildwood Academy is a charitable non-profit school that caters to students and young people with a variety of special needs such as Asperger's syndrome, dyslexia and other learning disabilities. Lauren Edwards, manager of the Tim Hortons at 2960 South Sheridan Way has been giving several students from Wildwood the opportunity to experience life in the workplace since September. The opportunity for Wildwood to team up with an employer is a first for the school, but one that Edwards says has worked exceptionally well from the employer's perspective. "The students get such great pleasure out of coming to work. They're so reliable, never come in late or call in sick and they work just as hard as everybody else," said Edwards. "They bring such a positive morale to everybody that's here, from the other staff to the guests." The students' teacher Jen Porter, who calls the experience both valuable and unique, echoes Edwards' sentiments. "They are very proud to work at Tim Hortons.
