HERE IT COMES: Grade 9 twins bring enthusiasm to Hawks Continued from page 1 Loyola Hawks player Sam Medeiros pitches to a Notre Dame opponent during Halton high school baseball action last week at Glen Abbey Recreation Centre. Loyola defeated the Irish 5-4 in a rematch of the past three Halton championship games. HERB GARBUTT / OAKVILLE BEAVER experience in games like today, they can watch and learn," the Loyola coach said. "We've had a tradition of a never-say-die attitude. We've had some epic comebacks over the years. Today, after the grand slam, they could have laid down." Among that group of Grade 9s is Sam Medeiros, who pitched four shutout innings, allowing only three hits and a walk. He gave up consecutive singles to start his final inning but came back with two strikeouts and a flyout to get out of the inning. Twin brother Jake Medeiros had three hits, including a pair of doubles. "Those two have been bugging me about baseball all year," McNamara said. But that's the kind of enthusiasm the Hawks coach likes to see. It could also be the ingredient needed to get a young team back to the final again. -- Herb Garbutt can be followed on Twitter at @Herbgarbutt
