After going 4-2 in pool play, the Thunder posted straight-set victories over Mountain V.C. (quarterfinals) and Tigers Black (semifinals). Facing Durham Region V.C. in the final, Oakville won the first set 25-12 before Durham tied the match with a 25-22 win. The third and deciding set was tied 13-13 in the late going, but Durham scored the final two points of the match to deny Oakville the gold. Members of the Thunder are Kendra Wynter, Logan Hannay, Tonia Nimeck, Emily Rynberk, Courtney Brand, Jennee Morassut, Amy Horikawa, Ola Murawska, Ana Tarnouskaya and Amanda Brown. The team was scheduled to face world No. 5 Cuba last night (Wednesday) in its final contest of pool play. "Dan is our leader on defence," Canadian head coach Glenn Hoag said of Lewis, a libero, after Tuesday's win. "He really keeps it organized, and he was really well concentrated and had a super game."
