So the service recognized those who have helped make Halton a safer community at its annual Police, Citizen, Media Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 17 at the Oakville police headquarters -- including The Oakville Beaver. A total of 75 awards were handed out to officers of the service, citizens of the community and members of the media. "At tonight's ceremony, we're recognizing the incredible results we can achieve when we all work together toward a common goal, creating a safe, secure, peaceful community for all of us to enjoy," said retiring Chief Gary Crowell. "This is not the responsibility of any one group of professionals.
