They've created a music video and showed it to large groups of people live and to countless more online. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. The school's Anti-Bullying Committee received the Working Against Violence Everyday (W.A.V.E.) award at the Louise Russo Youth Awards in Mississauga on May 16. "I feel really proud we got this and that we really accomplished something. It's really nice to be recognized," said member Sabrina Yeung. Accolades however are not what the group is seeking. Instead, it wants change. "We're trying to create a positive message and this music video is not just for us. It's for everyone else. We want people to watch this and learn. This is a lesson for everyone. Whoever is bullying, we hope it changes you," said another member, Fahad Buchh. NOTICE OF FILING Morrison/Wedgewood Diversion Channel Spill Management Conservation Ontario Class Environmental Assessment Town of Oakville THE STUDY Conservation Halton has completed the Project Plan for the Morrison/Wedgewood Diversion Channel Spill Management project in the Town of Oakville. The Project Plan has been prepared in accordance with the Conservation Ontario, Class Environmental Assessment for Remedial Flood and Erosion Control Projects, approved for projects under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. This project has been conducted in order to plan for the management of spill water during major floods for this currently at risk diversion channel. As described in the Project Plan, Conservation Halton is proposing an approach that will facilitate the reduction of flood water spills from the Diversion Channel to existing properties and infrastructure downstream (south). The strategy includes a combination of flood berms and retaining wall systems to prevent spills to the south of the channel. PUBLIC NOTICE Emergency Response Training Exercises Scheduled at Suncor's Oakville Terminal Suncor Energy will be conducting several training exercises throughout the months of May and June 2012. The training exercises, which will be conducted in co-operation with the Oakville Fire Department, are scheduled for May 15, 16, 17, 18, 29, 30, June 4 and 5. Training will take place only between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM at Suncor's Oakville Fire Training Centre located at 3275 Rebecca Street, Oakville, ON. Please note: These exercises will include controlled exterior fires resulting in smoke being visible from the site. This type of training is important for Suncor's Emergency Response Teams. It provides the opportunity to train using fire suppression techniques under live fire conditions so that these experts in their field are prepared and trained to provide the best possible industrial fire protection.
