Our Patients Come First · Hospital design impacts your health in more ways than you may know. In our new hospital, we will create an environment that will ease your stay and improve your recovery. · 80% of the rooms will be designed for a single patient to help lower infection rates and give you more privacy. · Rooms will be larger, receive more natural light, and provide easier access to lighting and temperature controls. · Increased space in patient rooms will allow for a pull-out sleeper bed for a family member's overnight stay. · Calm, quiet outdoor spaces will provide opportunities for solitude and social activities. New Services to Meet Our Community's Needs · Our new cancer clinic will fill a longstanding need for our community and deliver state-of-the-art systemic chemotherapy. Along with being patient and family centered, the cancer clinic will deliver state of the art systemic chemotherapy. We will also provide full supportive care to oncology patients and have a focus on education so that our patients can be fully informed and actively participate in their treatment decisions. · More CT scanners and MRI machines will ensure patients have quicker access to the vital diagnostics they need. Modern equipment and information communication systems will work to enhance the patient experience and support our culture of safety and improve patient outcomes. · More and larger operating rooms will enable us to meet the growing demand for surgical procedures. · Satellite pharmacies in critical care, surgical suite and the cancer clinic will improve medication management for our patients. The Need for Support As a community, we are responsible for funding 100% of the medical equipment necessary for our new hospital. With more than 30,000 pieces of equipment to be purchased, the need is great. All items are related to patient care and include a wide range of equipment needs to support patient services that will be offered at our new hospital. Many pieces are required immediately at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and will move with us to the new facility when it opens in December, 2015.
