Held on Sheridan College's Oakville campus grounds, it served up award-winning ribs from seven different ribbers. Proceeds from the event will support Rotary community initiatives. Ribfest goers came in droves It was a successful start for the Oakville Family Ribfest as almost 24,000 people were counted entering the gates this past weekend. The 15,000-visitor goal for the three-day event was surpassed on Saturday, said Lisa Dodd, spokesperson for the event, put on by the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar. "We're thrilled," she said. "For a first time event, it was just fabulous. We've been getting wonderful e-mails from people. As people left, they were saying they hope we would be doing · More Fun! · Exercise! · Self Confidence! · Meet People! · Grace & Poise! Dodd said the Rotary Club doesn't have the financial information accounted for yet, but added ribfest was a success from the organization's perspective. The event ran Friday to Sunday (June 22-24) on the grounds of Sheridan College. There were a total of seven ribbers at this year's event, plus a number of other food vendors.
