Dudley told numerous stories during his presentation including one where he bought a grocery store cashier chocolates because it seemed she was having a bad day. The gesture was so appreciated it brought the woman to tears. Dudley also told a story where he was brought to tears by the kindness of a stranger. The story dated back to his university days when he and his classmates had attempted to raise $20,000 for Shinerama: Students Fighting Cystic Fibrosis through a charity car wash. An inconvenient hurricane hampered the event, but through determination and unorthodox fundraising techniques the group still managed to raise $18,000. Drew Dudley, Motivational speaker and Nuance Leadership Inc. founder last $2,000, telling Dudley she felt better there were people like him in the world. "You want to know what leadership is? It's telling the people who made your life better that they made your life better. Leadership is finding a way to add value everyday... and it's nothing beyond that," said Dudley. "Somehow I think it is scary to believe that we can be that powerful. It's frightening to think we could have that kind of impact everyday. As long as we keep leadership bigger than us and beyond us, as long as we keep leadership about changing the world what we are doing is giving ourselves an excuse not to expect it from ourselves and each other every day. We're lowering the bar in life to make it easier, but it doesn't make it better."
