www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, August 3, 2012 · 18 Staples Oakville has announced it will partner with the Kiwanis Club of Oakville to provide school supplies to students who otherwise would not be able to afford them. Representatives for the office supplies giant said that as part of the 7th Annual Staples School Supply Drive, Staples stores would be collecting financial donations for local charities until Sept. 9. The donations, which in Oakville's case will go to the Kiwanis Club of Oakville, will go towards school supplies for local children in need. Staples and Kiwanis to help students "We know that simple things like a new backpack, pens, or a lunchbox mean so much to students on the first day of school," said Steve Matyas, president of Staples Canada. "For children and teens, these items are not just tools, but a way to start the school year with confidence and enthusiasm." Matyas said even purchasing basic school supplies is a struggle for many families, which is why, he said, the Staples School Supply Drive is a program the entire Staples organization passionately rallies behind every year. "We're thrilled so many Canadians work with us to support thousands of children by providing much-needed school supplies to students across the country," he said. This year, Staples Canada has set a goal of raising $1.5 million for local charities through this School Supply Drive. Since its inception in 2006, the campaign has helped raise more than $5 million for children in need across Canada. For more information, visit www.staples. ca/community.
