The start of a sandcastle P O W E R WA L K I N G 11 · Wednesday, August 22, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com O When fitness leader Lee Scott started power walking in preparation for the 2001 Vancouver Marathon, she could not have predicted how walking would change her life and the lives of others. Since then, she has designed North America's leading coaching program for people who want to get fit from walking and, over the past decade in business, she has become a recognized expert on how to coach walking athletes. She has walked 22 marathons and numerous other distance events, winning the 2008 walking division of the Cleveland Marathon with a time of 4:55:58. Her personal best for a half marathon is 2:14:58 and for a full marathon is 4:51:51. These finish times and those of "WoW" trained walkers are comparable to many runners. Scott and her coaches are presenting three introductory programs in the fall. The High Performance Introduction program meets for 90 minutes on Saturday mornings for 6 weeks beginning September 15. WALK YOUR BUTT OFF! Three homework walks will be assigned each week. This course will suit you, if you know you can schedule the walking homework between classes and if you have an interest in walking races. (Cost is $130 + HST) Two Fitness Introduction programs are being offered and meet three times a week for 4 weeks (Monday and Wednesday evenings, Saturday mornings (Sept 10 to Oct 6); Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday mornings (Oct 9 Nov3). This course is for you, if your desire is strong but you know you would follow through on your commitment more effectively with a 3-class per week structure. (Cost $225 + HST). Because of the small group environment and unique coaching method, both programs suit people of all fitness levels. Learn more at our information meeting! Thursday, August 23 6:30pm.
