Prepare to cheer Olympians at parade By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Oakville residents are being asked to give the town's 2012 Olympic heroes a standing ovation Saturday by attending a special celebration at Centennial Square. The recognition event kicks off at 2 p.m. with a parade along Lakeshore Road, starting at Reynolds Street and ending with a reception and autograph session at Centennial Square (Lakeshore Road and Navy Street). "What a great way to show your hometown pride for Oakville's Olympic athletes," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. "This is a big thank you to our athletes who showed a tremendous competitive spirit and were a true inspiration in every way at the London Games." The attending Olympians include Adam van Koeverden, Diana Matheson, Mark Oldershaw and Kyle Jones. Douglas Csima and Tera Van Beilen are unable to attend, but will be represented by their parents. Oakville's athletes scored many successes during the London Olympics.
