The second annual Octoberfest party will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 at the organization's event hall located at 1494 Wallace Rd. "We were looking to host a community event that was a lot of fun and gave people a reason to celebrate. We used to host an Octoberfest party each year and decided to bring it back and give it a twist, so we came up with Rock-toberfest," Steve Maloney, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Marian Council 3881 of Oakville, stated in a press release. "You can tell from the name, you won't be dancing to oompah-pah music," he said. Starting at 7 p.m., the evening will feature the musical stylings of The Thrusters -- a cover band specializing in '60s, '70s, and '80s rock. "We had so much fun last year, we didn't hesitate to agree to play again," Larry Crowe, The Thrusters' band member and a White Oaks Secondary School graduate, said in the release. The fundraising event also promises to offer authentic German cuisine, including pork schnitzel, roast pork, mashed potatoes, sausage, sauerkraut and carrots. Tickets cost $20 for admission and dinner or $7 for admission alone.
