Nestled at the heart of the parade are the numerous volunteers that give their time each year to bring this important tradition to Oakville. The parade itself is organized and run by a dedicated group of volunteers whose tireless efforts begin early in the spring and culminates each year on parade day. "Volunteers make the parade possible," said Pam Damoff, parade chair. "Without the people who walk the route as costumed characters or assist with parade marshalling and traffic logistics, parade day would simply not happen." It's never too late to be a part of this wonderful community tradition. The Santa Claus Parade is always looking for volunteers to assist on Parade Day. Information about volunteer opportunities can be found online at www. oakvillesantaclausparade.ca. High school students will be eligible to receive volunteer hours for their participation. There is always a need for additional adult volunteers to assist with marshalling and logistics -- especially those willing to help man traffic barricades with assistance from police to ensure the safe flow of traffic during the parade. A meeting for all volunteers will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Town Hall in the South Atrium, 1225 Trafalgar Rd. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. Questions about volunteering can be directed to volunteers@oakvillesantaclausparade.ca.
