The longest power outage, she said, left five customers without power for four hours after a tree brought down a highvoltage transformer and pole on West Street. The shortest outage affected 46 customers for just a few seconds when a tree connected with high-voltage wires on Burnhamthorpe Road West. A single tree limb took out power to another 4,133 customers when it fell on a set of high-voltage wires on Maple Grove Road at 10 p.m. Umbriaco said 1,121 of these customers had their power back in 27 minutes while the remaining 3,012 had power restored within 47 minutes. "There are still five customers in the Town of Oakville that are without power due to a tree limb falling on their over- added to the 40 mm of rain that fell over the weekend. "What helped our area somewhat is that we had a very dry summer, so the soil and the wetlands could accept a fair amount of rainfall before any runoff potential," said Miller. "Our flood reservoirs also had plenty of capacity as well." As rain is in the forecast for the next few days, Conservation Halton is continuing to advise residents to keep away from area creeks and streams as the rain will have increased their flow and made their banks slippery and dangerous.
