In that vein, the non-profit organization awarded several Oakville residents who have done the same with Peace Medallions during its Breakfast for Peace at the Oakville Conference Centre, Thursday. The medal winners were Jack Yeilding (youth), Julie Harmgardt (adult) and Julia and Emma Mogus of Books With No Bounds (group). Jack Yeilding Ten-year-old Jack Yeilding has had an ongoing battle with severe epilepsy since he was an infant. Through medical intervention, including brain surgery, the seizures stopped in 2010. However, Yeilding has spent the last six years giving back to the organization that helped him: Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Since 2007, Jack's Lemonade Stand has raised $250,000 for the hospital. The event began with a lemonade sale in his driveway. Now, the annual event attracts thousands of people who take part in various activities, see and pet animals, (even a tiger was brought to this year's event) and of course, people can still buy lemonade. Jack's mom, Jodi Frers, came up to the podium to address the audience as Jack and his sixyear-old brother Christopher were shy. This expansion relates to the construction of phase 1 of a three-storey mausoleum, which received final site plan approval under the Planning Act on January 18, 2012.
