Miracle Day Dec. 5 at CIBC CIBC Wood Gundy is helping out local children's charities by donating fees and commissions from one day as part of its Miracle Day campaign. Since 1984, CIBC Miracle Day has raised more than $64 million for children's charities. It is always the first Wednesday in December -- this year it's on Dec. 5. "You're never as tall as when you reach down to help a kid. The program helps us define our role in the community it feels great to help kids in-need," Nizar Esmail, branch manager at CIBC Wood Gundy in Oakville and Burlington, said in a press release. CIBC investment advisors also often expand the time they will donate their fees and commission in order to raise more money, with this going from Nov. 26-Dec. 7. Branches in Oakville and Burlington have collectively donated more than $500,000 since 2003, to local charities, including the Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK) -- a mental health centre help- Pet pics with Santa Local pets will be practising posing and `saying cheese' for the Oakville and Milton Humane Society's third annual Pet Pics with Santa event. The popular event will be held on Dec. 1, 8 and 15 at the Dealing with Dogs training centre at 1380 Speers Rd. from noon-4 p.m. "Each year, the event gets bigger and bigger. We enjoy meeting all the pets, many of whom were adopted from our shelter," said Brenda Dushko, manager of fund development at OHMS. Photo packages range in price from $10 for a single 4x6 print, $15 for a 5x7, $20 for an 8x10 or $20 for a CD of all the photos taken of your pet.
