Cause leads to mustache fun for student By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF As November wraps up, you should have noticed men growing mustaches -- some to spread awareness, some to raise money for prostate cancer research, and some just because. Well, count 12-year-old Thomas Desmarais in, too. No, he can't grow a real 'stache, but he sported a new one every day of this monthlong Movember movement, while raising money for Prostate Cancer Canada. "I don't like wearing them, but it's for a good cause," said the Grade 7 W.H. Morden Public School student, sporting an Albert Einstein look at the time. He said he likes the look and will consider growing a real mustache when he's older. This is his second year doing the fundraiser. "I really wanted to show kids they can make a difference," he said. "This is the easiest thing I could do. It started with just supporting my uncle's campaign, but I realized if I was going to track how much money I was raising, I would need my own website, so that's what I did." Desmarais is also doing the fundraiser after his grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His grandfather, who has since recovered, is growing a mustache to support his grandson. For every day in November, Desmarais put on a new mustache, which he wore from the morning until bedtime.
