Rotary's programs for students and youth can change the lives of those who participate. Through these programs, young people can earn scholarships, travel on cultural exchanges, or help a community through a service project. The three Rotary Clubs in Oakville continue to support local youth in their post-secondary education with generous bursary and scholarship programs and the Rotary Education Awards. Each spring Grade 12 students apply for Rotary funding through their school guidance counsellor or a Rotary Club contact. In 2012, forty awards were distributed to deserving Oakville students for their post-secondary education. The continuation of these awards depends on successful fundraising in our community. Three annual events hosted by Oakville Rotary Clubs that provide funding for youth programs include: · The Oakville Awards for Business Excellence (OABE), an initiative of the Rotary Club of Oakville West, scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Tickets available at oabe.ca. · The Annual Rotary Club of Oakville Golf Event & Million Dollar Hole-In-One Competition, June 6-10, 2013. · The Oakville Charity Dragon Boat Festival by the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar in August.
