Cruise for a Cause boarding in Toronto CharterAbility is inviting residents out to its 10th annual Cruise for a Cause tomorrow (Saturday, June 1). The Oakville community group enables children, seniors and those with physical disabilities enjoy time on the water. "Too often, seniors and the mobility-challenged are left on the dock due to accessibility issues," stated CharterAbility founder Stephen Cull in a press release. "But that situation is changing due to the efforts of CharterAbility," said Cull. Cruise for a Cause raises funds for the local organization's accessible boating program and includes dinner, tapas, a cash bar, dancing, a raffle draw and silent auction of donations from more than 70 businesses. This year's event will take place at Toronto's Wayward Princess Pier, 539 Queen's Quay W. -- a change from the Bronte Pier location of previous years. "The change was due simply to happenstance with no real big reason," said Cull. "In our 10th year, it does cast our contingency and support net further away from Halton, but Toronto people with disabilities and seniors do travel here to Oakville to use our service, as well. "We are also generally approaching our mainstay supporters and sponsors, who have supported us for the last nine years for tapas, silent auction and the raffle items." Cull also said CharterAbility has inquired about a shuttle bus and discounted parking rate for those travelling from Oakville to the Toronto stop. "There is also the option of the GO train and... we do have a discounted rate for a night's stay at the Westin Harbour Castle (in Toronto)," he said. Boarding will start at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $60 per person and available by calling Stephen at 905844-7208 or info@charterability. com.
