Poloz will be the keynote speaker at an Oakville Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday, June 19. It will mark his first public speech in the role. The event will be at the Burlington Convention Centre, 1120 Burloak Dr. "We are honoured to host Mr. Poloz for his first public speech in his new role as Governor of the Bank of Canada," said Chamber Chair Julia Hanna, in a news release. "Given the central bank's pivotal role in guiding Canada's economy through the economic recovery, our members will be very interested to hear Mr. Poloz's perspective on Canada's financial system and monetary policy." Every June, the Bank of Canada's board of directors meets outside of Ottawa, to engage directly with business, industry and labour interests from different regions of the country. The governor delivers a public speech in the region where the directors meet. The public is invited to attend. Tickets cost $50 for Chamber members or $75 for non-members.
