Damoff leads by cycling The Share the Road Cycling Coalition recently awarded Oakville Councillor Pam Damoff with its Bicycling Leadership Award. It was received by Damoff during a presentation at Queen's Park and recognizes those at the municipal level who show commitment and leadership to growing and supporting cycling in their own communities and in Ontario. "I am deeply grateful to Eleanor (McMahon, CEO and founder of Share the Road) for this recognition of the work I have been doing to encourage cycling in our community," said Damoff. "I am proud of our accomplishments thus far, and look forward to continuing the cycling conversation in Oakville." Last year, Oakville was recognized as a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community at the Ontario Bike Summit. Since then, Damoff has launched Cycle Oakville. It is dedicated to promoting cycling and bicycle-friendly business districts. The group's priorities include advocating for enhanced investments in bicycling infrastructure and organizing social rides for citizens. "(Pam's) enthusiasm and leadership are evident in the launch of Cycle Oakville, a coalition of citizens and business leaders dedicated to making Oakville more bicycle-friendly and to encouraging citizens to ride more often," said McMahon.
