Such was the case Wednesday as the Longo family joined members of the community, from Mayor Rob Burton to Grades 1 and 2 students from New Central Public School, to celebrate the opening of Oakville's third Longo's at 469 Cornwall Rd. Clockwise from top left, Joey Longo, left, and Anthony Longo receive winning aprons from Longo's Apron Art Contest from New Central students. New Central's choir performs under direction of Ashley Winchell. The Longos don the aprons -- in back, from left, Jenny Longo, Tony Indovina, Gus Longo, Joey Longo, Anthony Longo, and Mike Longo -- with the students. Burton delivers a welcome. The Longo family and local dignitaries take the traditional bite out of apples. The new store offers more than 100 varieties of organic produce, stone oven pizza, in-store coffee bean roasting and making its Canadian grocery store debut, an in-house chocolatier creating Belgian chocolates and truffles exclusively sold at the new store. There is an in-store pharmacy, Starbucks and Corks Beer & Wine Bar and a Corks Lounge, where families can have a meal with a glass of Ontario wine or craft beer. The store is also home to The Loft by Longo's cooking school. The Loft is offered to community partners like Healthy Fam (Kids Culinary Community) and diabetes and renal patients at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, to learn about healthy eating and nutritious cooking.
