Our Dreams Matter Too in Oakville Oakvillians joined thousands of Canadians recently in more than 40 locations to walk in support of equal opportunity for First Nations youths to succeed. The Oakville leg of the Our Dreams Matter Too walk was at White Oaks Secondary School (WOSS) -- organized by students Julia and Emma Mogus and attended by youth activist, Wes Prankard from Northern Star sh, who came with his family, from Niagara Falls, Ont. WOSS students walked with those from the Oakville Leo Club and others. Our Dreams Matter Too is aimed to give First Nations youths the same chance to grow up safely at home, get a good education, be healthy and be proud of their culture. Letters written to Prime Minister Stephen Harper were read -- then walkers went to the nearest mailbox to send the letters. The Our Dreams Matter Too walk supports three ongoing campaigns: Shannen's Dream, for "safe and comfy schools" and quality education (www.shannensdream.ca); Jordan's Principle, to ensure equitable access to all government services (www.jordansprinciple.ca); and "I am a Witness," which helps to ensure the safety of First Nations children (www.fnwitness.ca).
