Police said a grandmother had just loaded her granddaughter into the car when her grandson, who was also in the vehicle, hit the locking mechanism on the set of keys he was playing with, locking the grandmother out. With temperatures sitting at around 29 C, at the time, police took the matter seriously and were on scene within six minutes of being called. The children were removed from the vehicle one minute after police arrived. Neither child was injured during the ordeal. Police said a child locking him or herself in a vehicle is not uncommon with of cers in Halton responding to such a call almost daily. Traf c on the westbound QEW came to a standstill, Wednesday, after a tractor trailer jackknifed near Bronte Road at around 4 p.m. and blocked several of the westbound lanes. No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no one was injured.
