Hockey skate and equipment sale next weekend The Minor Oaks Hockey Association's annual skate and equipment sale returns Saturday, Sept. 7 at Oakville Arena. The sale, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, benefits families with the opportunity of purchasing gently-used equipment at discounted prices in order to offset the high costs of outfitting young hockey players. Skates, shin pads, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, goaltender equipment, sticks, jerseys and other paraphenalia will be available for sale. Cash will be the only accepted payment. Families wishing to sell their gently-used equipment can drop off items Thursday, Sept. 5 or Friday, Sept. 6 from 6-8:30 p.m. both days. There is a $2 processing fee for each item. Equipment experts will help sellers price the items for sale. Items are sold on a consignment basis with a percentage of proceeds going to support local hockey programs. Unsold items must be claimed after the sale, between 1-2:30 p.m. Any unclaimed items will be donated or discarded. Donations of unsold equipment are greatly appreciated and will be given to children's programs to support their need for hockey equipment. Only items in good condition will be accepted and organizers reserve the right to refuse equipment that does not meet their standards. Helmets and jocks/jills cannot be accepted for sale. Oakville Arena is located at 133 Rebecca St. For more information on the MOHA skate and equipment sale, visit bit.ly/15twINy.
