A week before winter of cially arrives, snow blanketed Oakville Saturday morning, as well as the entire western end of Lake Ontario, as more than 30 cm of the white stuff fell. Here, Sheridan College students Jessica Casely and Gabriel Sossa (centre) wait to climb aboard a bus to the GO station to head home for the holidays. While Casely is Ottawa-bound and used to the snow, Sossa hails from South America and found the weather really cold. More snow arrived yesterday with yet even more possible later this week. More than 30 centimetres of the white stuff blanketed Oakville's roads resulting in about 80 snowplows, salters and various other vehicles being sent out to keep the town's streets clear. "It was a pretty major event for us. A long duration of snowfall," said Mark Covert, senior manager of the Town's Works Operations. "Overall, I think it went pretty well." Covert said snow crews started their work at about 6 a.m. Saturday morning and continued clearing snow until late Sunday. As of Monday afternoon, snow was still being removed from sidewalks. And then more fell by Tuesday morning. see Town on p.5 ceramics porcelain travertine marble glass natural stone mosaics slate granite quartz FACTORY TILE DEPOT 1360 Speers Road (East of 3rd line) Oakville We shop the world so you don't have to!
