www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, February 13, 2014 | 8 Free Family Day Skate Ward 2 councillors Cathy Duddeck and Pam Damoff are inviting the community out to a free skate on Family Day Monday (Feb. 17). The event takes place at the Oakville Arena, 133 Rebecca St., from 3-5 p.m., and will also include complementary popcorn and hot chocolate. This is the third year the Oakville councillors have hosted the family affair. Those who attend are encouraged to bring in donations of non-perishable food items for Kerr Street Ministries, as well as gently-used children's skates for a skate drive organized by Oakville-based Change by YOUth. The skates will be sent to children and youths in the Nishnawbe Aski Nation. People are asked not to bring hockey sticks, pucks or equipment for the skate -- wearing a helmet is recommended.
