Local LHIN receives $3.1M in funding from Province The Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) recently announced it will receive $3.1 million in provincial funding. The one-time funding will support the additional volume of patient care at Halton Healthcare Services and augment money already provided by the provincial government towards the transition to Oakville's new hospital. "I am pleased the Ministry of Health is working with our local health partners to ensure that Oakville citizens continue to receive great health services in Halton," Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn said in a news release. "This funding will ensure the doctors, nurses and staff at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital continue to provide our growing community with patient-centred care." Ontario is shifting the focus of its healthcare system towards patient-care, stated the release. "This (new funding) model will calculate healthcare expenses based on demographics, clinical data, as well as quality-based procedures based on efficiency and best practices. Moving towards this model will help to standardize care, minimize practice variation and improve quality and patient safety." Order online.
