The 5-foot-9, 171-pound centre averaged more than a point per game (33 points, including 17 goals, in 31 games) for the Don Mills Flyers last season. Michael Boltiz, a 6-foot-1, 152-pound goaltender, was selected in the seventh round by the Owen Sound Attack. He posted a 3.77 goalsagainst average in 828 minutes played with the North York Rangers in 201314. The Belleville Bulls picked 6-foot, 185-pound left wing Colton Trumbla in the eighth round. Trumbla had 31 points (15 goals) in 41 games last season for Don Mills. Zach Ribau was the lone member of the Oakville minor midget AAA Rangers to be selected, going in the 12th round to the Sarnia Sting. The centre, who is 6-foot-1 and 176 pounds, had 13 goals and five assists in 37 games last year. Bailey Newton will join Maksimovich in Erie after being selected by the Otters in the 13th round. The 5-foot-10, 152-pound blueliner had a goal, five assists and 20 penalty minutes last season for the Halton Hurricanes. Matthew Danner rounded out the local contingent taken in the draft, selected in the 14th round by the Saginaw Spirit. Olympic curler guest speaker at AWCO general meeting Thursday Olympic curler Erika Brown will be the guest speaker at the American Women's Club of Oakville's general meeting Thursday (April 10). Brown skipped the U.S. entry in Sochi as she competed in her third Olympics. She made her first Olympic team when she was 15, when curling debuted as a demonstration sport in Calgary. Originally from Wisconsin, Brown now lives in Oakville with her husband Ian Tetley, a three-time world curling champion and a member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame.
