OT, the top seed at the AAA/AAAA Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations tournament, advanced to the final with an overtime victory over No. 4 Uxbridge in yesterday's (Tuesday's) semifinals. The Red Devils scored a second-half try to tie the game 5-5, and the teams played a scoreless overtime before OT prevailed 2-1 in kicks. OT was slated to face third-seeded Brantford CI in today's gold-medal game, beginning at 3 p.m. The Red Devils won their first two games of the tournament in easier fashion, blanking Medway 31-0 Monday and downing St. Michael 11-5 yesterday morning. St. Thomas Aquinas, the fourth seed in the A/AA girls' rugby tournament, had its OFSAA medal hopes dashed with an opening-game 10-5 loss to St. Matthew Monday in Belleville. Aquinas rebounded yesterday to defeat LaSalle 12-5 in its second game. The Raiders were slated to face Bayside yesterday afternoon in the consolation semifinals. Oakville Trafalgar is seeded ninth in the OFSAA boys' AAA/AAAA tournament, which begins tomorrow (Thursday) in Durham. The Red Devils will take on eighth-ranked Banting in their opener, a 2:45 p.m. start. If victorious, OT, winners of 42 of the last 44 Halton titles, would likely play top-seeded Bill Crothers Friday morning.
