Lindsay Fedchyshyn, CN Public and Government Affairs regional manager, attributed the accident to heavy rains, which caused drip trays containing diesel and motor oil to over ow. "Due to yesterday's heavy rainfall in the area, an estimated 50 to 100 litres of used oil was pushed out from product drip trays at CN's locomotive refueling station in CN's Oakville yard," said Fedchyshyn in an email. "The trays normally separate the oil from any water, but yesterday's heavy rainfall caused the product to over ow into a culvert structure that leads to Morrison Creek." Baldwin Drive residents Sandra and Ian Blane noticed something wrong with Wedgewood Creek, which runs through their backyard, around 7 a.m. Monday.
