At three weeks old, he contracted bacterial meningitis and was hospitalized three weeks, mostly at Hamilton's McMaster Children's Hospital. The meningitis -- doctors told Tyler's parents they couldn't determine how he contracted it -- caused brain damage and now the youngster struggles with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, a severe form of CP .
