Italian Torontonians reside in Woodbridge, shop at Woodbine and watch Lombardi. In the centre of it all is Tony, a young Italian man with an uncertain future should he take the role that his recently deceased father once held in the "family" business, or explore new opportunities of his own? Tony is not your typical mobster; he's afraid of blood, still lives with his mother and wants to act for a living. But when the suspicious circumstances surrounding his father's death are unveiled, Tony realizes that he must clear his father's name and find his place in the Familia. Familia is a hilarious, new Italian-Canadian comedy that plays with, and comments on, the iconic (and ironic) images that Italian-Canadians deal with every day. The play will run at Toronto's Jane Mallet Theatre, June 5-22 at 8 p.m. Familia is the first major pro duction for Oakville actress, singer Debbie Stoddard who just recently formed her own production company, Circuit Productions. "I spent two years look ing for the perfect script.
