"And we give them the history to understand it." Saint-Cyr had just finished working with a group working on a piece from the 18th century. He had to teach them about who this music was written for, and the type of person who wrote it. This allowed the quartet to grasp the elegance needed to play the piece. In addition to the instructors, there are two quartets that live at Appleby College with the stu dents. The musicians are avail able to assist the students on their pieces, which are to be played in the Student Showcase on Aug. 23. It is open to the public and begins at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at L'Atelier Grigorian in Towne Square, at the door, or by calling SOCMI at 905-842-5865.
