Funds will also be used to make washrooms barrier-free. · Food4Kids Hamilton, Halton, Niagara -- a two-year, $105,100 grant will allow Food4Kids to hire an outreach worker to engage the community in addressing child weekend hunger and raise funds to provide the program to 150 children. The worker will expand the program and establish relationships with peer agencies to explore ways to address child hunger and poverty within the Halton community. · Oakville Festivals of Film and Art -- will receive $10,000 (for one year) to expand the festival to a two-day semi-annual event in 2015. The event will bring world-class cinema, art and cultural activities to downtown Oakville. · Halton Environmental Network (HEN) -- as the lead organization on a collaborative, HEN will receive a 34-month, $170,900 to enhance the reach and impact of Halton Green Screens (HGS) through a number of avenues including a public series, school-based program; family-friendly outdoor nights; and screenings to specific groups in order to raise the level of community awareness and action on pressing environmental issues. Funding will be used for staffing and program costs. · The Oakville Players -- as the lead organization on this collaborative, a two-year, $98,500 will allow the troupe to hire a marketing adviser to increase participation and audience engagement at the Oakville Drama Series held each year downtown. · Knights of Columbus Oakville -- a $80,000 grant (for two years) will help increase the safety and functionality of the kitchen and replace the roof over Marion Hall, which can accommodate groups of up to 100 people. · Streetwise Actors Inc. -- a three-year, $95,000 will be used to hire an executive director to manage both the administrative and artistic direction for the organization. Funds will also be used to allow more youth participation in the free, after-school drama program that helps raise self-esteem for youths who are at risk.
