21 | Thursday, November 27, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Doug Greco, who owns Catch Hospitality, which operates Cucci, Plank, The Firehall and Tavolo restaurants, is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Salvation Army, which he says, assisted his family when he was a child. Doug Greco never forgot the Salvation Army helping his family when he was young and now he's returning the favour. Greco's company, Catch Hospitality, will be hosting its fourth annual holiday fundraiser for the Salvation Army on Monday, Dec. 8. One hundred percent of the proceeds from its lunch service at its four restaurants -- Cucci, Plank, The Firehall and Tavolo -- on that day will be donated to the Salvation Army. "My family certainly wasn't well off and we got a little help from the Salvation Army when my father was laid off," Greco said. "They asked us one year if they could put their (collection kettle) in the restaurant and I thought, `We can do better than that.'" That year, Greco started the `Give Back A good Catch for Salvation Army Lunch' at Cucci. "The response was overwhelming," he said. He expanded it to two sittings the following year and as Catch Hospitality has grown, he has incorporated the fundraiser at the other restaurants. Since it began four years ago, $55,000 has been raised for the Salvation Army. Last year alone, it raised $16,000 this year Greco hopes to raise $20,000. Greco says everyone gets on board with the fundraiser, from suppliers to staff, who donate their tips. "It's such a great cause," he said. "They do such good work in the community, from their outreach programs to shelters, counselling, the food bank.
