Good run at Kawartha Challenge tournament After a disappointing loss in their regular sea son opener last week, the O akville R angers novice AAA team bounced back with an impres sive performance at the Kawartha Challenge tour nament in Peterborough last weekend. Oakville made it all the way to the champi onship game before finally running out of steam and losing 7-1 to Brampton Battalion. Ross Sloan scored the lone goal. Here's the recap: OAKVILLE 6. Central Ontario Wolves 3: Nicholas Vrbensky, a newcomer to the team, pot ted the hat-trick. Ross Sloan displayed his usual magic by adding two goals while Josh Dube added a single marker. OAKVILLE 6, Oshawa Generals 2: goals were scored by Ross Sloan (2), Josh Dube, Nicholas Vrbensky, Jonathon Sisokin and Ryan McLaren. Pre season ends with sizzling 5-0 record for 0MHA semifinalists The O akville R angers atom A rep team have looked very sharp in the pre-season, as they breezed to a 5-0 record, outscoring their opponents 23-7. This includes a 2-0 blanking of Lome Park in their final tune-up before kicking off the regular season this week. Ryan Moore and newcomer Foster Dyck shared the shutout, and both have looked solid in the early going. The scoring has been shared between all three lines, as the Rangers look to have a balanced attack, featuring 10 returning players and seven new skaters. The three new AP players -- Eliott Cheeseman, David Policelli and Anthony Theroux -- have all seen game action and are already contributing to solid team play. The coaching staff o f Bill Wiley, Paul Walker, Danny Tavares, Joey DiBattista and trainer Teresa Beckett look to have the boys well prepared to go even further than last season's OM HA semi final appearance.
