The 21st annual Geminis will be announced Nov. 4 and among the Canadians nominated for their contribution to tel evision are Oakville's Ron MacLean, Gary Pearson and Christian Potenza. MacLean is nominated for best host or interviewer in a sports program or sportscast for his more than 10-hour-long broadcast during Hockey Day in Canada on CBC. The long-time Hockey Night in Canada co-host is up against Michael Landsberg of Off the Record and Brian Williams for his coverage of the 2006 Olympic Games. Pearson, a Sheridan illustration grad who has lived in Oakville the past six years, is up for best writing in a comedy or variety series for This Hour Has 22 Minutes. While The Tournament was cancelled after its second sea son on CBC, the cast, which includes Potenza, has been nom inated for best ensemble performance in a comedy program or series. The Tournament cast is up for an episode called The Warrior Women and faces competition from shows like Comer Gas, Royal Canadian Air Farce and This Hour has 22 Minutes. CHANTAL AYOTTE / OAKVILLE BEAVER Iroquois Ridge craft sale Saturday Iroquois Ridge High School is hosting its 12th Annual Craft and Artisan Sale on Saturday from 10-4 p.m. The event will feature gourm et chocolate, designer clothing, fashion accessories, jewelry and accents for the home with all the proceeds going to programs for the school. Shoppers will have the musical stylings of the school's young musicians played for them as they browse through areas of the school. Iroquois Ridge High School is located a t 1123 Glenashton Dr. and admission is free. Art auction for Amnesty International Amnesty International Oakville/Milton is hosting its Third Annual Art Auction on Saturday, Nov. 4. The auction, which is at Oakville' s Church of the Incarnation, features original paintings, photography, jewelry and pottery by local artists, including Maria Sarkany, Marvin Olson and Barbara Allen. There will also be a silent auction including two rare Royal Dalton figures and a complete set of Ashton Drake Little Women collectable dolls with certificates. "Amnesty International Oakville / Milton holds one fundrais er a year," said Louise Briggs, Amnesty International Regional Fieldworker and member of the Oakville/Milton group. "The pro ceeds go towards supporting the human rights works of Amnesty International, purchasing videos and printed materials for our libraries and schools, and of course to our talented local activists." The event starts at 7 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception and a musical performance by local guitarist, David Ash. Guests will also have a chance to preview the artwork and bid in the silent auction at this time. The auction will start at 7:30 p.m. Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights.
