www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, May 22, 2015 | 20 Lyon's Cabin restored for use by Oakville residents by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff The Town of Oakville officially unveiled the restored Lyon's Log Cabin this month at its new permanent location on the west bank of Sixteen Mile Creek in Shipyard Park. The 19th century structure, which cost the Town $290,000 to restore, was once home to English immigrants George and Mary Lyon after whom the dwelling is named. Pioneer couple The couple raised nine children in the cabin, according to archives from the Trafalgar Township Historical Society archives. Built around 1820, the pioneer cabin was originally located in the Village of Vernerville, which was at Trafalgar and Upper Middle roads. Later that same year, the components of the cabin were moved to Shipyard Park, near Oakville Harbour, where it was reassembled. "The cabin has been in Shipyard Park for a number of years.
